Project Engineering Manager (Wastewater Treatment)
Description
The Opportunity
BQE Water Inc. is an award-winning provider of innovative water treatment solutions and engineering design services to international mining clients, committed to environmental stewardship, recovering value from waste, and enabling socially responsible operations where water is treated as a shared natural resource. We are seeking a Project Engineering Manager (Wastewater Treatment) to lead the project management function across our engineering portfolio. While the PMO team formally reports to the VP, Projects and Services Delivery, and this role has no direct reports, the successful candidate will play a key leadership role by providing day-to-day guidance and mentorship to junior team members, establishing best practices, driving process consistency, and upholding high standards of project delivery. A strong background in engineering (including P.Eng.), mining, or water treatment projects is highly valued. This role will work in close collaboration with Process Engineering Managers—who hold primary technical authority over engineering design and process application—to ensure robust integration of project management discipline within complex, multidisciplinary project execution. Generally, our projects involve $200k-$2m in consulting fees re: scale and scope.
Key Responsibilities
· Lead multidisciplinary engineering projects from planning through delivery
· Manage scope, schedule, budget, and resourcing across concurrent projects
· Act as the primary client interface and ensure strong stakeholder alignment
· Coordinate internal teams—projects, cross-disciplinary engineers, operations, and finance—and external partners, contractors, clients, and vendors
· Identify and manage project risks, issues, and changes
· Create and maintain workable schedules based on approved project bids
· Drive consistency in project execution, reporting, and delivery standards
· Support the development of project management best practices across the organization
· Provide day-to-day mentorship to junior Project Management Office team members
What We’re Looking For
· P.Eng. (or eligible within the year)
· 8–12 years of experience in engineering consulting (mining, wastewater, environmental services, or infrastructure)
· Proven experience delivering multi-discipline projects (~$10–30M in client capital investment)
· Strong commercial acumen (budget ownership, forecasting, margin awareness)
· Confident client-facing and stakeholder management skills
· Strong communication skills, with the ability to lead teams while remaining technically credible
Nice to Have
· PMP certification (or willingness to obtain within the first year)
· Experience implementing project controls or improving delivery processes
· Familiarity with evolving departments and processes in growing organizations
Compensation
· Base salary: $130,000–$145,000
· 3 weeks of paid vacation annually + bonus company-wide festive week of paid leave annually
· Manulife health care coverage upon hire
· 1–5% GRRSP and a company-funded HSA upon completion of probation
· Professional dues, travel, and EHS certification reimbursement
· Up to $1,000 annually in education matching after 1 year of service
Compensation
$130,000.00 - $145,000.00 per year
