Water Treatment Plant Operator - National Opportunities (Canada)

The Company
BQE Water Inc. develops innovative water and wastewater treatment solutions for clients across the global mining industry, helping them achieve environmental stewardship goals, maintain regulatory compliance, recover valuable minerals from waste streams, and support socially responsible operations. Following an exciting period of growth, we are seeking multiple Water Treatment Plant Operators to join our expanding operations across Canada, including Ontario, British Columbia, Yukon, and Quebec. These seasonal positions may be offered on a fly-in, fly-out (FIFO) basis, with travel expenses covered for eligible candidates residing outside the local area. Interviews will be tailored to determine the most suitable site allocation based on each applicants individual circumstance.
The Role
Reporting to Plant Supervisors or Managers, Operator duties include, but are not limited to:
- working rotational shifts as as part of a team, looking after all plant opetrations including metals removal, reagent and utility circuits.
- Analyzing plant performance, completing daily process reviews, optimization and troubleshooting, including testing e.g., pH, ORP and conductivity
- General plant housekeeping
- Identification and communication of maintenance requirements to supervisors
- Responsibly and safely carrying out duties and inspections efficiently in alignment with industry best practice, company policies, company standard-operating-procedures and site/ client processes.
- Writing, reviewing and editing technical documentation e.g., reporting on operations, updating SOPs and maintenance manuals.
- Communicating and reporting data and information regularly to other stakeholders on site, colleagues during rotational handovers, and BQE head office employees both remotely and during visits e.g., process engineers
- Other duties as assigned by leadership.
Shift Schedule
Most client sites include 11 or 12 hour shifts, within a 2 weeks on-site following by 2 weeks off on leave rotation.
Requirements
To be eligible for this position, applicants will need their resume and cover letter to confirm:
- Posession of a valid drivers licence
- If you have your EOCP Level 1 wastewater operator certification or above, its a minimum requirement for some but not all sites, so let us know.
- At least one calendar year of operations work experience in industry, within a plant - particularly in municipal or water treatment operations
- Proven ability and familiarity working in both teams and independently, showing self-motivation, teamwork on shift, and strong collaboration during shift handovers
- Strong communication skills and mechanical aptitude
- A basic knowledge of process chemistry i.e., coagulation, solid/liquid seperation
- Basic computer skills and familiarity with the Office 365 suite e.g., Word, Outlook, MS Teams, Excel
Compensation Package
- $40-50 hourly
- 4% vacation pay on all paystubs

- Provincial overtime rates
Compensation
$40.00 - $50.00 per hour
